With criminal justice reform in the news and on the debate floor in Albany, harm reduction is a vital part of the conversation. We've learned that protecting people from harm is a better approach than the "wars on crime" of another era. Now our elected officials are finding other ways to protect individual rights rather than to respond with incarceration. The East River Democratic Club has invited experts from different backgrounds to have a conversation about recent legislation, the current state of affairs, and how to protect workers in the future.

The East River Democratic Club is committed to the Progressive Democratic tradition - a tradition that values initiatives to create an ever more just and equitable society. We support both candidates and legislation that aim to provide equitable access to education, health care, transportation, housing, the legal system, and environmental safety regardless of any person's age, gender, race, disability or socioeconomic status.

We engage with the community and the issues affecting it, encourage participation in local civic life, the democratic process, and the County and State Democratic Party. Finally, we endorse candidates for office and, together, we work to support their campaigns.
